Skittish And Receptive. A Poem

I am skittish.
I am hesitant.
I am fearful.
About what
You can guess
Yup. It's rejection.

There are some
Who would give advice
"What have I got to lose?"
Would be an utterance
Along with
"You will never know
Unless you try."

I take this in
And may take action.
It's all about my confidence
As well as gumption.
There are other factors
Like the man's character
And if I have discerned whether
He might be receptive.

Stimulate my mind with words of poetry. And my body will follow it's lead...

Something relevant to TS Eliot and the door to the rose garden, left unopened
- if memory serves

We would all like to know if someone will be receptive to our advances. You can always lessen the chances of rejection by trying to establish a rapport before you meet. Being turned down is a dent to the ego but is not the end of the world. This is a lesson I learned the hard way. Many times!!!

I obviously have piles of advice to unload on you. The great majority never used by myself.

I simply wish you the best with being skittish, because, surely, even being a little skittish means there is, or might be, something there, worth getting disappointed about if rejection occurred. And that in itself, and of itself, is a great reason for breathing (and being skittish!).

Thoughts in sensual pleasure to erotic writing writ.
